BC conducts training programme

Shalinka receiving her certificate from Gill Westaway, Country Director, British Council Sri Lanka and Anna Lilley International Development Officer, Sheffield Hallam University. Ms Shalinka Jayathilaka from the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) scored the highest marks at the agent's exam conducted recently by the British Council. SLIIT are the local agents for Sheffield Hallam University,UK. 18 other agents also successfully completed the training and some are in the process of being awarded the "Trusted" partner status by the UK border agency at the British High Commission.

The Governor of District 82 of Toastmasters movement which covers Sri Lanka & India, Arunasalam Balraj delivered a Guest Lecture at the IPM. Sri Lanka recently. The event was organized by the members of IPM Toastmasters Club under the leadership of its Vice President PR Yash Naik.


British Council organises 17th Education UK Exhibition in Colombo & Kandy


Dr Peter Hayes, British High Commissioner, welcoming the first student to the EUK exhibition at the Queens Hotel in Kandy.

The Education UK Exhibition in Kandy drew a record crowd of over 1000 students in half a day. Students had the opportunity of meeting delegates from 27 UK universities when they visited the exhibition in Kandy. A number of students received on the spot admissions to universities while others had the opportunity to apply for the various scholarships on offer. The first part of the Exhibition was held at the Colombo Hilton and saw approximately 4000 students meting delegates from 57 universities over 2 days.


Free Seminar on "Kabuki & Noh" on March 15 - at NYSC

A Free Seminar on "Kabui & Noh Drama" will be held at Auditorium of Maharagama National Youth Service Premises on March 15 (Sunday) from 8.00 AM to 1.00 PM. This program is presented under the patronage of Embassy of Japan and organized by Japanese Graduates Alumni Association of Sri Lanka (JAGAAS) - according to secretary of JAGASS - Dr. Sunil Jayantha Nawaratne.

This seminar will be conducted by Prof. Kulatilake Kumarasinghe - Dean of the Faculty of Humanities ,Kelaniya University and eminent film and drama director Parakrama Niriella.

The target audience is University and A/L students who follow Drama as a subject and teachers and students of Japanese studies. Mr.Takashi Ato -1st secretary of Japanese Embassy will be the chief guest.
