UK engineering degrees available in Sri Lanka within the reach of all

 

Internationally recognized Engineering Degree can now be completed in full in Sri Lanka. The University of Wolverhampton, UK offers two Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree programmes in collaboration with Colombo International Nautical and Engineering College (CINEC), Malabe. Upon successful completion of the degree, students will have a level of competency that is appropriate for that of professional body and international standard recognition.

Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Sciences at CINEC, Prof. N. Rajkumar, an academic with many years of teaching and research experience and Visiting Professor of many overseas universities, feels that this is an excellent educational opportunity for students who have not gained necessary scores to enter Sri Lankan Universities and who are unable to attend foreign Universities due to lack of adequate funds.
The Faculty of Engineering Sciences at CINEC offers the following two Engineering Degree programmes of the University of Wolverhampton. They equip the graduates with skills to be immediately effective in the workplace.

nBachelor of Engineering (Hons) Electronics and Communications Engineering
nThis programme is designed for the students to develop an understanding of the concepts underpinning communications systems, and gain analysis and synthesis skills in and across a range of technological areas. It meets the requirements and aspirations of engineers in electronics and communications.

Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Mechatronics
The Mechatronics degree equips the students with skills in the design, development, implementation and operation of electro-mechanical systems. The students gain an understanding of contemporary mechanical and electronic technologies, as well as the conceptual and prototyping stages of system design, and also learn about manufacturing methods, and how advanced computer and software analysis is applied in industry.

Course structure
The programmes are of 3 years duration, delivered in full at CINEC Campus in Malabe. The courses offered at CINEC will be identical to the ones conducted at the School of Engineering and the Built Environment of the University of Wolverhampton, using identical syllabi, titles, numbers, texts, teaching formats, and evaluation standards. The delivery of the programmes at CINEC will be subject to the same rigorous UK Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) standards.

Eligibility
Students who have successfully completed G.C.E Advanced Level in Physical Science stream are eligible to apply. CINEC also offers a special Bridging Program in Mathematics for students who did not offer Mathematics at A levels but have successfully completed the subject at O levels.
A recognized relevant Diploma or advanced Diploma will also be considered.

Foundation Program
This is a 10-month program specially designed for students who have successfully completed G.C.E Ordinary Level with five credit passes including English, Mathematics, and Science
University of Wolverhampton
The University of Wolverhampton is a first class university spread over four campuses in the region and situated in the centre of England. It provides excellent educational opportunities to people from all backgrounds and helps boost social and economic regeneration regionally, nationally and internationally.

The University is amongst the largest in the UK with a student population of over 24,000. The University's new IT Complex on its City campus houses major computing and Engineering facilities, including 700 computers, a purpose-built laboratory and a media production centre together with a range of state of the art science laboratories.

The University prides itself on its links with Industry and the industrial relevance of its programmes. In particular, the Telford campus houses a state of the art engineering department that not only delivers academic programmes but also houses one of Europe's most advanced engineering product development centres which works with engineering companies to regenerate the West Midlands region.
The University of Wolverhampton is also recognised as producing world class research and this has been reflected in the recent Government Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) who identified the University of Wolverhampton as producing areas of research that is amongst the best in the world.

CINEC Campus
CINEC is Sri Lanka's largest private Higher Education organization, situated in the picturesque suburbs of Malabe in close proximity to Sri Jayawardenapura, the administrative capital of Sri Lanka.
The facilities available in the CINEC campus are second to none. The students will have the benefit of exceptional teaching and laboratory facilities designed with extensive modern technology. These facilities are supplemented with technical workshops and state-of-the-art simulators which complement the organization as one of leading advanced educational institutions in Sri Lanka.

In addition, the Campus is equipped with residential facilities, cafeteria and recreational facilities such as Swimming Pool, Gymnasium and other allied facilities for the use of students and as such is considered a high ranking educational institution in Sri Lanka.

Course and Application Enquiries
Staff from the University of Wolverhampton will be in the Campus at Malabe on 16th, 17th and 18th March, 2009 for counseling and registration for the programmes commencing in June 2009.
