Plan to reduce city traffic congestion

The first official Park and Ride Facility providing a shuttle service between Katubedde and Fort and a car park for 150 vehicles will be operative from tomorrow. Motorists can park their vehicles and take a luxury bus to Fort paying Rs 170 one way or Rs 150 both ways.

Generally bookings have to be made in advance to make use of this facility. Buses will have TV, facilities to use laptops, water and newspapers. The buses will ply between 6.30 am to 8.30 am from Moratuwa to Fort and back between 4.30 pm to 7.30 pm – essentially for office workers. Pix by J Weerasekera.
