Who would have thought – Xbox integrating with Twitter or even Facebook? It goes to show how diversified technology is today and that anything is possible!
Microsoft’s Xbox is about to get a lot more social. Twitter and Facebook will soon be coming to the system, bringing an interactive boost to the entertainment console.
The Xbox Twitter-Facebook integration revealed recently, will bring the two services into the Xbox Live online gaming service. In addition to the service’s multiplayer functionality, you’ll be able to send and receive status updates with the social networks straight from your Xbox console.
Some games will be ready to take advantage of the added options, too. An upcoming version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour, for example, will allow you to send screenshots and score updates directly into your Facebook stream via the Facebook Connect interface. You’ll also have the option of inviting friends to join your games without so much as shifting your eyes off the screen. It’s all expected to become available sometime this coming fall.
Twitter and Facebook aren’t the only social services being added into the Xbox world. Music-streaming service Last.FM will be built into Microsoft’s expanded Xbox offering as well.
Microsoft seems to be going all gung-ho with Xbox. But my only question is, with Microsoft search service “Live” getting renamed to “Bing,” will Xbox Live be renamed “Xbox Bing”.... I hope that doesn’t happen!
First look at iPhone 3.0 software
Apple recently released a third beta build of the iPhone 3.0 software, taking developers one step closer to the final release expected in June. Arriving exactly two weeks after the previous build, the iPhone 3.0 third beta software build brings speed improvements and plenty of under-the-hood goodies.
One of the most significant additions to the latest beta of the iPhone 3.0 software is the way individual apps will be able to notify users of updates or additional content. At the moment, individual apps flag users only in iTunes of new events, but with the 3.0 build, they will be able to do so right on the phone via badge, text or sound notifications. An interesting fact about the third beta of the iPhone 3.0 software is that the Skype app no longer works on 3G.
The new software looks very promising and knowing Apple, they will deliver the goods on time. Also, it’ll be interesting to see whether with the June release we can expect some cool new hardware as well. For those who are not into the iPhone, I can honestly say you are missing out on something really cool! |
