The new production of two plays ““Kapuwa Kapothi” and “Tharavo Igilethi” will be staged on June 12 and 13 at the Elphinstone Theatre, Colombo.
Dr. Ediriweera Sarachchandra and A.P. Gunarathan’s adaptation of famous Russian author Nikolai Gogol’ s comedy “Marriage”, “Kapuwa Kapothi” will go on the boards at 3.30 and 6.45 p.m. on June 12 at the Elphinstone Theatre, Colombo.
This is the maiden show of the new production of the humorous play that entertained the theatre goers for years.
The new cast comprises famous artistes Nihal Fernando, Deepani Silva, Sarath Kulanga, Ariyaratne Kaluarachchi, Wasantha Vittachchi, Lalith Rajapakse, Kumudu Prashanthi, Anusha Dissanayake, Ravindra Ariyaratne and Upamali Ranathunga.
The stage decor of “Kapuwa Kapothi” is by Lionel Bentherage and the costumes by Lalitha Sarachchandra while lighting is by Upali Weerasinghe and stage management by Dharapala Bogoda and Ravindra Ariyaratne.

And on the following day, June 13, the new production of Lucian Bulathsinhala’s popular play “Tharavo Igilethi’ will be staged at 3.30 and 6.45 p.m. at the Elphinstone theatre.
Played ten years after the original play was last performed, the new production had a number of performances around the country with accolades from theatre lovers.
The young cast of the new production include Harsha Bulathsinhala, Sumith Ratnayake, Niroshan Wijesinghe, Indika Jayasinghe, Piyumi Shanika Botheju, Randima Thilini Perera, Anura Bandara Rajaguru, Ferni Roshini, Mahesh Uyanwatte, Gamini Samarakoon and Rodney Warnakula.
Both plays were organized by Jude Srimal.
