The Decision Review system (DRS) will definitely be in place for the Australian tour of Sri Lanka, but in all probabilities it will be in effect for only the three Test matches starting 31 August.

SLC’s Interim Committee Chairman Upali Dharmadasa explaining matters to the Sunday Times said “Originally there was confusion with the date that the system was coming to effect, but, ICC CEO Haroon Loghart made it clear to us that the system was in effect after the last ICC meeting that was held in Hong Kong.
“However, now the prevailing problem is that there are only two companies in the world who possess the DRS mechanism and both are operating in England for the England-India series now in progress. This means that the system will not be available for Sri Lanka for our series against Australia prior to the three Tests. Still, even the ICC is on the look out for any one who could provide us with the DRS facility for the ODIs.”
Dharmadasa also added that the preparations for the tour are in progress at present and he expects tour to cost 180 million dollars. He said “At present the going rate for Hotel rooms is around 165 to 170 $ per day and we are stuck with that cost. However we have managed to cut down on the security cost to around Rs. 7 million as we have got the backing from the ministry of defence where the armed forces and the Police will assist us in providing the security for the tour. At the same time we are also keeping a close tab on the other expenses with the people who are involved with the tour arrangements”.
The SLC Interim Committee Chairman also confirmed that Sri Lanka still has not agreed with Pakistan for Sri Lanka’s FTP schedule to take place in Abu Dhabi. He said “Earlier Pakistan had turned down an offer made by the SLC to play the series in Sri Lanka. But, that was on the high side. Now we are looking to re-propose the itinerary at manageable levels and play the series here so that the local fans will get a chance of witnessing the series at home”.
