STF arrests three with 128 bundles of Rs 5000 forged notes
The Special Task Force (STF) has arrested three suspects along with a stock of 128 bundles of Rs 5000 forged currency notes.
STF personnel had stopped a vehicle in Galwana, Mulleriyawa last afternoon (17) based on a tip-off. They found 128 bundles containing the forged notes.
Police Media Unit stated that only one side of the Rs 5000 was printed on one set of notes while the other side was printed on the other set of notes. The notes had been placed in the 128 bundles so that the two notes with either side printed faced outwards.
The three suspects aged 34, 36 and 42 are residents of Ja-Ela, Angoda and Mulleriyawa. They were handed over to the Mulleriyawa police and are due to be produced before the Aluthkade Magistrate's Court today.
