Marvan, Chamara hit tons

A 199-run fifth wicket stand between Marvan Atapattu (107) and Chamara Silva (106) helped SSC to set the stage for an outright victory over Galle CC at Braybrooke Place yesterday.

Attapattu hit 10 boundaries and two sixes while Chamara Silva overshadowed his senior partner hitting 15 boundaries and a six as SSC declared at 329 for 7 wickets.SSC who were at one stage on 81 for 4 wickets recovered through the entertaining partnership between Atapattu and Silva.Both batsman flayed the Galle bowlers who toiled all day on a placid wicket. Trailing by 190 runs Galle CC were 34 for no loss by the close

Sanath sparkles
Former Sri Lanka skipper Sanath Jayasuriya cracked a sparkling 123 with 14 boundaries and a six as Bloomfield hit up 361 against Colts SC in a Premier League Division One game at Havelock Park yesterday.

Jayasuriya was well supported by Indika de Saram(48) and Kumar Dharmasena (74) as Bloomfield put up an imposing and challenging total.In reply Colts were 88 for 2 wickets at close.

Tamils set for the kill
Tamil Union were set to crush Police as they took a firm grip at the end of the second day's play at the P Sara Stadium yesterday. After hitting up 412 for 8 declared Tamil Union bundled out the Cops for 83. Following on the Cops were 48 for 1 wicket by the close.

Chilaw Marians Praneenth Jayasundera (5/23) and Ranil Dhammika (3/15) teamed up to bowl out Air Force for 119 at Katunayake yesterday. Air Force in reply to Chilaw Marians first innings total of 247 were in total disarray against the visitors. Enjoying a 128 run lead Chilaw Marians finished the day on 223 by close.
