  • King Gothabhaya’s service to the Buddhist order
    The traveller went to the palace and met King Gothabhaya. He presented King Sirisangabo’s head. The king immediately recognised it, to be his former friend Sirisangabo’s head. He felt ashamed of himself for turning against his friend.

    The ancient port city of Galle has a history that stretches back hundreds of years. According to Sir James Tennant, Galle was the ‘Tarshish’ referred to in the Bible as the port where ships trading with King Solomon obtained gemstones, ivory, spices and scented woods.

    Maha Daenamutta was the Great Wise Man of the land. People thought that he knew everything. They sought his advice whenever there was a problem.
    He had five pupils, very loyal and obedient.

    Panama is a remote village situated 17 km from Pottuvil in Ampara District. The village is the eastern entrance for Kumana sanctuary. The village has about 1600 families, primarily of Sinhala Buddhists.
