Aussie
task force to build new houses
An Australian task force made up of members of the Master Builders
Association of Victoria, is expected to arrive in Sri Lanka today
to assist in the construction of new housing. It is led by the Treasurer
of Victoria state, John Brumby, MP.
Mr.
Brumby and the task force members are to hold talks with senior
Sri Lankan ministers and visit affected communities to learn at
first hand what assistance is needed.
"Already
we have provided $ 1 million to rebuild a hospital in Ampara and
another in Hambantota, the worst affected areas, while one school
in the Eastern Province and one in southern Sri Lanka will also
be rebuilt," Mr. Brumby had said.
The
Victorian government has set aside over $ 10 million to assist the
countries affected by the December 26 disaster. |
