CCC’s Best Corporate
Citizen award 2006
The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce in its continuing
effort to promote Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) within the
business community will announce its “Best Corporate Citizen
2006” at the awards ceremony on November 2 at Oak Room, Cinnamon
Grand.
This year’s award is in association with
The World Conservation Union (IUCN), whose Sri Lanka Business and
Biodiversity Programme assesses the current level of corporate environmental
responsibility within Sri Lanka's business sector and facilitates
best practices.
Naoko Ishii, Country Director, World Bank is the
chief guest at this year’s event while the keynote address
would be by Mohammed Rafiq, Head of the Business and Biodiversity
Program, IUCN.
The award, in its third year now, evaluates its
applicants on five categories before selecting the “Best Corporate
Citizen”. Leading up to the grand award, best practices in
Community Relations and Society, Employee relations, Customer/ Supplier
relations, Economic Performance, and Environment will be rewarded
with awards to the top three corporates in two categories i.e. large
scale and small and medium scale. Awards will also be given to the
winners of each stakeholder category and to the top 10 Best Corporate
Citizens.
