Caltex supports Senok training centre

Caltex is aware of its responsibility towards society. We will be conducting a number of technical seminars at the SMTI similar to the educational campaigns carried out for the students of the Ceylon German Technical Training Institute.

The Senok Group recently declared open the new workshop building for the Senok Heavy Machinery Training Institute (SMTI). This institute has been providing training for construction equipment operators and supervisory personnel for the past one and half years. To date, about 675 young operators have been trained on a variety of earthmoving, materials handling and transport machinery.

Also commemorating this occasion, the Senok Heavy Machinery Training Institute (SMTI) introduced a new welding programme to their existing curriculum. According to the institute “The demand for training has increased considerably due to emerging job markets. The new physical infrastructure development programmes in the road and irrigation sectors, in urban development, post tsunami construction, North-East development etc are some factors attributing to this increase.”

Speaking on the occasion, Kishu Gomes Managing Director / CEO for Caltex Lubricants Lanka Limited stressed on the importance of both technical and practical training to meet the challenges in various industries.

He said “as a socially responsible organisation, Caltex is aware of its responsibility towards society. We will be conducting a number of technical seminars at the SMTI similar to the educational campaigns carried out for the students of the Ceylon German Technical Training Institute. We will ensure continuous revisions and assessments to the course structure to maintain up to date information and knowledge and through these training programs we propose to elevate the standards of individuals to greater heights.”
