Minority shareholders recognised

Minority shareholders in Sri Lanka - knocking on doors for ‘decent treatment’ by listed companies - won some support from the authorities this week.

A delegation led by M. Mohamed Mohideen, who has consistently raised issues at AGMs on behalf of shareholders, met Chairman, Colombo Stock Exchange Nihal Fonseka and discussed a range of issues and grievances.

Mohideen said some of the issues were to provide more facilities to investors at the trading floor while an appeal was made to include a CSE representative at company AGMs as a ‘governance and transparency’ exercise. The other members of the delegation were S H.G.T.Nimalsiri, H.K.Wijeratne, V.T. Chanmukapavan, M.A.Wijesinghe and T.G.Daryanani.
