A day of chaos, and you're invited
By Thushara Kulatunga
"Shed your skin and shed your light, silent chaos serpentine." This was what we got when we asked Suresh de Silva for a message to all those coming for the Stigmata gig tonight. For all you rockers/metal heads, moshers and everyone in between, Chaos Invited is a must-see event if you are a fan of electrifying music and if you just want to rock out and have a good time. That is after all, what rock-and-roll is about.
The gig is scheduled to kick off at 3.00 pm this evening (May 20) at Clancy’s. Fans will also get to see the grunge rockers from the hills Paranoid Earthling, who will be the guest act kick-starting the show with some heavy and trippy tunes.
When asked why they chose a Sunday to stage this gig, they said that that way, people won't have an excuse for missing the gig because practically everyone's free on a Sunday afternoon. They also said that by doing this, they will open new doors for new fans who in other cases might have problems with making it for a show at night.
The premium sponsor for the event is Axe. Tickets will be priced at Rs. 500 for guys and ladies walk in free. The gents will receive a free Axe body spray with every ticket purchased. So really gentlemen, there's no need to complain about discrimination against males. Electronic media sponsors for Chaos Invited are MTV and Sirasa TV and the exclusive print sponsor is the Mirror Magazine.
But what about the music? You might well ask. Well, if you want to see exactly what the music will be like you will have no choice but to come to the show. However, you die hard fans would not want to miss this because Stigmata will be playing the whole of ‘Silent Chaos Serpentine’ and also some old Stiggy favourites from their debut album ‘Hollow Dreams.’ And that's not all. Rumors of a new song (or maybe two new songs) are flying around in the heavy metal underground creating hype among loyal Stigs followers. Fans should also do their stretching exercises and get ready for some serious moshing because the boys will be covering some classic heavy metal tunes as well.
Stigmata would like to thank all the members and bands and the committee at Rock Company for providing an avenue for Sri Lankan originality. They also specially thank all at 891, for sticking together against all odds. What is 891? Well one thing's for sure. They're not telling.
For more information on Stigmata, visit their website at www.stigmata.us. Their myspace page, which was functioning until recently has been removed due to technical and security issues. However, the myspace address will be revealed at the gig.
So this is a call to all the rockers in Colombo and beyond. Chaos Invited will be a wicked event for all fans of good, heavy music. Be there. |
