Omanthai opened to the public once again

The Omanthai entry-exit point will be opened for the public from today.

The A9 was closed on Thursday and Friday when LTTE started firing mortars towards the Army’s forward defence line in Omanthai. However, the road was opened yesterday for one hour to allow the transportation of sick people from Vavuniya to Kilinochchi and vice versa.

Meanwhile bodies of nine LTTE cadres who were killed in a confrontation with the Aarmy in Periyathampanai in the Madu area were handed over to relatives in Kilinochchi through the ICRC yesterday.
