Battaramulla Rotary Club wins awards

The Rotary Club of Battaramulla was the proud recipient of several key awards at the 17th Rotary District Assembly held recently. The event, organized by the Rotary Club of Colombo Mid Town, was held on May 13, at the Galadari Hotel, amidst a distinguished gathering. The keynote speech was given by Tourism Minister Milinda Moragoda while the Chief Guest was RI Director Robert A. Stuart, Jr.

Rotarian of the Year Rtn PHF Gehan Siribaddana flanked by District Governor 2006-2007 Rtn PHF Bobby Senaweera and District Governor 2007-2008 Rtn PHF Thariq Thulba, the Past President and members of the Rotary Club of Battaramulla, together with their awards.

The installation of the District Governor 2007-2008 Rtn PHF Thariq Thulba by District Governor 2006-2007 Rtn PHF Bobby Senaweera was also held.

Among the awards won by the Rotary Club of Battaramulla were Best President - RI District 3220 2006/2007, Best Secretary - RI District 3220 2006/2007, Best Rotary Club - RI District 3220 2006/2007 and Best Rotarian - RI District 3220 2006/2007, which was awarded to Rotarian, Paul Harris Fellow and the President of the Rotary Club of Battaramulla, Gehan Siribaddana.

Adding to this impressive list were other accolades, such as winning the RI District 3220 Citation Award, presented in recognition of the club's outstanding efforts in meeting the challenge of the District Citation Programme; a certificate of appreciation, for the club's outstanding contribution towards the successful completion of the District Foundation and the International Services Seminar during the Rotary Year 2006/2007; and becoming the No. 3 Club in the District based on the per capita Annual Programme Fund given to the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International 2005/2006.
