The Menaka Singers directed by Menaka de Fonseka Sahabandu will present Allegrettango at the Lionel Wendt on Friday September 12 at 7.30 p.m.
The programme will feature a wide range of music, including well known arias , Broadway musicals and popular Latin American selections such as ‘Girl from Ipanema’ and ‘Summer Samba’.
Some Sinhala songs are also included in this evening of vocal and choral music. The Junior choir will perform an interesting medley of popular Disney favourites.
Well known theatre personality Jerome De Silva will be handling the theatrical aspect of the production while the music for the evening will be provided by Sureka Amerasinghe on flute, Maxie Pietersz –Doublebass, Shem Darius –Drums, P.L.N. Hemantha and Ajith Kodikara on violin,Tamara Holsinger on cello, and Menaka Sahabandu on the piano.
Tickets are available at the Lionel Wendt. Proceeds will be towards the Friends of the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children. |
