The Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) is to offer a priority service to members of the armed forces, the police and the Civil Defence Force as a ‘salute to the war heroes of this nation’.
SLT said in a statement that these servicemen and police would be provided priority service devoid of any trouble or inconvenience. “This will eliminate the need to stand in long queues when paying bills or to obtain services from the company in the future. Upon producing identification, they will be given utmost priority and, prompt and courteous attention at all SLT Teleshops and Tele-bureaus as well as Regional Telecom Offices country wide,” the company said.
"If not for their selfless sacrifice of the security forces, the victory and freedom that we enjoy today would only be a dream. Thus, we are determined to show our appreciation in whatever we can to make their lives better". Mrs. Leisha De Silva Chandrasena, Chairperson SLT, said in the statement.
