Bill to end PERC

The Government will present a bill in Parliament next week to abolish the Public Enterprise Reforms Commission (PERC).

A government source said the bill followed a 2007 cabinet decision to wind up the PERC which was established in 1996 to advise and assist the government in public enterprise reforms.

He said PERC was being abolished in keeping with the Mahinda Chinthana policy of non-privatization of state institution.
