A world of for Thimo Hip Hop

‘Thimo’ popularly known as Thimilaka of ‘Rote 1’ is now ready to break into mainstream music after the huge success with his new single ‘Mulakarana’.

‘Mulakarana’ is a Hot Music Production of Yashan. This hip-hop flavored creation was penned by Kelum Srimal and the music was arranged by Shalitha and Mahesh. The audio and video tracks of the song are now on air.

‘Music is something which my bro Amilaka and I couldn’t run away from. It’s our natural talent’ remarked ‘Thimo’.‘We have been involved with music from a very early age. We followed our father’s footsteps, who is a musician and a song writer. Our first musical combination was ‘Ashtake’ in Kandy.

We performed in music competition and made a name among schools in Kandy’ he added. Thimilka Tennekoon is now working on his new album and busy with his band. A concert of his own will be his next goal. ‘Our next musical effort ‘Ashtake’ was the band ‘Safe Hands’.

We started to perform in Kandy’s Kingswood College annual ‘colours night’ with the great support of Principal Ranjith Chandrasekara. We then shifted to hotel and private function performance where we got quite popular’ he explained.

Thimilka moved to Middle East with his dad Rohan Patrick but continued with his music career. ‘After coming to Abu-Dhabi for employment in an airline, we formed another musical outfit named ‘Route 1’.

We released a song titling ‘Oba Wenuwen’ with an audio and a video track last year. It became an over night hit. Ranga Dassanayake helped us a lot in this effort’ Thimo said

‘The type of music produced to cater the younger generation in Sri Lanka holds a prominent place for the hip-hop flavor. This is why I decided to create my new song based on this style. The support I got from Yashan who is a veteran in this field of music was quite encouraging. If it wasn’t for Yashan, this wouldn’t have been a success’ he said.

The creations have to vary from one another and they should display the talents each individual holds. This is what I believe in and I hope to continue music as a hobby as long as my creations are genuinely appreciated by others’ he added.

‘I thank my parents and brother who are very supportive of me and my fans, friends who are always with me’ said ‘Thimo’.
