St. Peter’s bags junior shuttle crowns

St. Peter’s College Bambalapitiya emerged All Island under 15 Schools Doubles Badminton Super ‘A’ Division champions and bagged the Jinasena De Silva Memorial Trophy which took place at the Council Indoor Stadium Kurunegala recently.

The tournament was jointly conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Badminton Association and the North Western Province Badminton Association and sponsored by SKM Lanka Holdings Pvt. Ltd.

St. Peter’s overcame Rahula College Matara, Royal College ‘B’ team Colombo, Ananda College Colombo and finally Dharmasoka College after a tense battle.
St.Peter’s are coached by Mr. Danesh Malliyawadu and the teacher-in-charge of the sport is Mrs. Dinesha De Silva.

In addition St. Peter’s became under 14 ‘A’ Division champions by beating Dharmasoka Ambalangoda (3-nil) in the finals which was held at S. Thomas’ College Mt. Lavinia in July this year. The under 14 team was captained by Kamod Halabage and the vice captain was Stephen Vanroyan.
