Gateway girls bag two cager c’ships

Gateway College Colombo emerged champions at the Inter-International Schools’ Under 17 and Under 15 Girls’ Basketball Tournaments, organized by the Colombo International School (Colombo) recently.
At the Under 17 competition, Gateway beat Colombo International and Lyceum International (Wattala) in the group matches and received a walkover against Lyceum International (Nugegoda). Gateway beat Elizabeth Moir School in the semi-finals 41/9. Gateway then went on to play Asian International School in the final where they emerged champions with a score of 36/32.

Chamathka Kavindra was awarded the Most Valuable Player while Tharanga Gunasekera was awarded the tropjy for the Best Defensive Player. At the Under 15 contest, Gateway College beat Asian International School, British School Colombo and Lyceum International School (Nugegoda) in the group matches. Gateway College beat Colombo International School (Colombo) in the semi-finals 49/22. Gateway then went on to play British School Colombo in the finals where they emerged champions with a score of 53/42.

Judith Fernando was awarded the Best Defensive Player while Tharanga Gunasekera was adjudged the Most Valuable Player.
