The Green X team won the Saranga Waranasuriya Memorial Tag Rugby championship for the second consecutive year beating Isipathana Police by 10 points at Havelock Park, last Sunday.
Green X team clinched the trophy with a score of 15 points while Isipathana Police was able to score only five points.

This year twenty teams participated in the tournament organized by the Group of 2002 of Isipatana College in memory of Saranga Warnasuriya who lost his life while being a member of the College rugby team.
One unique experience was the ex-great green legends playing a match against the grit of the spirited present boys’ team. Isipatanians who took rugby to national levels were seen participating in the tournament with Sajith Mallikaarachchi, Shammi Nawaz and Anuranga Walpola among them.
Triple Champions won the Plate championship and Group of 93 and 94 won the Bowl title. The best player of the tournament was Srinath Suriyabandara. |
