A delegation from the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) visited Jaffna recently to distribute machinery and equipment required by small business communities. Machinery and equipment were purchased under the NCCSL business promotion fund sponsored by the Royal Netherlands Government, the chamber said in a press release.
At a ceremony held in the Government Agent Office in Jaffna, machinery and equipment to 35 entrepreneurs were distributed. NCCSL spent Rs. 6.5 million to purchase machinery for the 35 entrepreneurs. Out of them, 15 are engaged in footwear manufacturing and the others are engaged in carpentry, food processing, construction, paper products, light engineering.
The NCCSL has so far assisted about 800 small and medium entrepreneurs throughout the country under the Business Promotion Fund (BPF), which is funded by the Royal Netherlands Government. BPF has assisted entrepreneurs representing all districts of Sri Lanka except Colombo and Gampaha, the press release said.
