Apollo Hospital, managed by Lanka Hospitals Corporation Ltd. (LHCL), will change its name to Lanka Hospitals from tomorrow, the company said.
Officials said LHCL did not wish to pursue the royalty agreement between Apollo India and LHCL for the use of Apollo’s name which came up for review recently, after its ownership changed. Earlier Apollo, partly owned by the Indian-based hospital chain, was acquired by the Harry Jayawardena-led Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation (SLIC). Once SLIC reverted back to the state after the Supreme Court ruled against its privatisation in mid-2009, a new director-board and management was appointed. The board of directors of which Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa is chairman, will preside at a press conference tomorrow to announce the changes. |
