Credit Card Holders of the Golden Key Credit Card Company Ltd (GK) have been asked to pay their total outstanding immediately to the GK dedicated account opened at the Bank of Ceylon.
The Secretariat to the Committee of Chartered Accountants functioning at the Central Bank has sent reminders to all GK Credit Card holders who have outstanding payments. A member of the committee said GK depositors (among the credit card holders) should not be alarmed because they can make a request to reduce dues from their deposits, once received under the repayment plan. However the normal procedure of recovery will be followed with regard to other GK credit card holders. A sum of Rs.. 844 million in credit card dues is outstanding.
President of the Golden Key Depositors Association Anusha Emmert told the Sunday Times FT that they were worried after receiving these letters from the Central Bank on credit card dues . Depositors who lost their interest income are not in a position to pay any money as they are struggling at the moment.
