The Colombo stockmarket’s All Share Price Index (ASPI) rose to an all-time high on Friday, reaching 3,188.8 points, higher than the previous record of 3,139.7 reached on October 13.
The Milanka Price Index (MPI) closed at 3,630.5 on Friday, officials said. The turnover for the day was Rs. 1.1 billion resulting in a daily average turnover of Rs. 583.1 million for the year 2009 to date. Market capitalisation of the CSE at the end of Friday’s trading was Rs. 1.02 billion.
Officials said the Colombo bourse has seen a significant growth during the year 2009, with the ASPI recording a gain of 112% and the MPI a growth of 122%, year to date. |
