The institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL) was involved as a Silver Sponsor for EDEX 2010, Education and Career Expo.

The Expo which commenced for the 7th consecutive year from January 15 will end on Jan.17, 2010 at BMICH. and it will be held in Kandy on January 19 and 20 at Kandy - City Centre. ICASL is committed to providing global professional education opportunities for Sri Lankan youth by taking part in EDEX 2010. ICASL has been an active participant at the EDEX for the past 5 years. Understanding the value of this exhibition and the increasing demand for quality higher education by the qualified youth, we have committed to be a "Silver Sponsor" in 2010.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL) is a globally recognized accountancy body which has 30,000 registered students and its qualification has gained wide acceptance all over the world. ICASL is the first professional Accountancy Organization to be incorporated under an Act of Parliament. It has been conferred the sole authority of formulating Accounting and Auditing Standards in Sri Lanka. During its existence spanning over a period of fifty years it has discharged its professional responsibilities in an exemplary manner consolidating the confidence reposed in it by the stakeholders.

ICASL provides a wide variety of services, setting a benchmark for the highest ethical, professional standards and governance procedures to be emulated by the rest. The overriding objective of the Institute is the furtherance of 'Public Interest' which is best described as the collective wellbeing of the community at large. High among its activities is the formulation of Sri Lanka's Accounting and Auditing standards, a duty entrusted to it by the Sri Lanka Accounting & Auditing Standard Act no: 15 of 1995.

These standards enable the preparation of financial statements in a comparable manner across different jurisdictions encouraging future investors who evaluate these statements as a prelude to making investment decisions.
