Imperial College coaches Sri Lanka's high flyers

Imperial College, the pioneers in CIMA education, is honoured to announce the achievements of their students at the November 2009 CIMA examinations. Commended for producing competent students and nurturing tomorrow's leaders, this achievement adds to their list of successes over the last several years.

With a view of educating every student to the highest standards with the knowledge, competencies and skills necessary to be the leaders of tomorrow, the quality of delivery offered at Imperial College in addition to the student conducive learning environment is a significant contributor for their accomplishments.

At the November 2009 Examinations, 3 students of Imperial College were successful in demonstrating their determination by winning Sri Lankan Prizes. Shenali Perera bagged the Sri Lankan Prize for Financial Accounting and Tax Principles (P7), having been coached by Pravinth Rajaratnam, the most sought after lecturer for the Financial Pillar subjects. Deasy Augusta secured the Sri Lankan Prize for Risk and Control Strategy at the Strategic Level under the guidance of Usama Jiffry. Tharindra Goonaratne who is just 18 years of age, was triumphant at Business Strategy, also bagging a Sri Lankan Prize. Imperial College has consistently maintained high pass rates, well above the average.

It is especially fulfilling to witness 2 of these prizes being won at the Strategic Level. In addition to the 3 prize winners, several students of Imperial College have achieved high marks.

I wish to congratulate them all on their achievements.' commented Pravinth Rajaratam, Director at Imperial College. He further added 'It is the student who puts in an extra effort and demonstrates exceptional capability in order to be successful and win a prize.'

According to this dynamic lecturer, 70% of the credit goes to the hard work and effort put in by the student, whilst 30% lies on the extra effort on the lecturer's part.

'At Imperial College, we follow a schedule based teaching method, covering the syllabus well in advance with a 20 hour intensive revision programme. We also have additional question practice classes to ensure students are thoroughly prepared to tackle examinations.'
