Some people believe that leaders are born with the necessary qualities that make them successful as a leader while others believe that leadership, like many other similar characteristics, can be learned and developed through life.

No matter how they measure up on the key essentials, no one emerges from the womb or from adolescence with all the skills in place to be an effective leader. Everybody has to learn the job. That's why leaders are always made. One may argue that it turns out to be a little of both. Leaders are sort of born and they're always made. Only knowing the details will help one in developing effective leaders for their companies.
The Sri Lanka Branch of the Chartered Management Institute UK has arranged a presentation to their members and guests to focus attention on this important issue with an event titled "Are leaders born or made?" This programme will take the form of an evening presentation at the Ivy Room, Cinnamon Grand Hotel on Wednesday February 17 and the Guest speaker will be Distinguished Toastmaster - Arunasalam Balraj, who has the honour of being the only Sri Lankan to be presented with the Presidential citation by Toastmasters International.
The session will help participants develop key leadership skills such as
- Creating a vision and sharing your vision to inspire others
- Improving communication skills
- Encouraging team members to discover their own leadership qualities
- Positive thinking and commitment to achieve goals
CMI Sri Lanka Branch invites all their members to make the best use of this interesting presentation by making early reservations, by contacting the TMC office at Galle Face Hotel. |
