Veteran journalist, cinema and teledrama artiste Rodney’s travel books written in Sinhala have being in demand among book lovers as well as the travellers who hunt for beautiful yet lesser known hideouts of Sri Lanka.
Written in narrative form, the book brings out descriptive journeys to hill country, beautiful water falls, lesser known tracks to Adam’s Peak, remote villages covered by Knuckles mountain range and many more interesting places. These travel reports are articles Rodney had written to ‘Tharunaya’ and other newspapers of Wijeya Newspapers Limited for a long time.
‘Dushkara Charika’- Sancharaka Satahan-2’ narrates twelve descriptive journeys made by Rodney. While his writing delights us, at times some of experiences undergone during his journeys make us terrified.
The journeys made despite fear of wild elephants, reptiles and cold and dark nights in forest are a treat to read. ‘Dushkara Charika’- Sancharaka Satahan-2’ is sure to encourage readers to try the hard journeys made by writer.
Starting as the editor of ‘Salaruwa’ newspaper, Rodney later joined ‘Lankadeepa’ as a features writer. He also was the editor of ‘Tharunaya’ for nearly 22 years. Rodney is also well-known for his lyrics, teledrama scripts, film assistant director and teledrama director.
He also has directed a series of programmes about different temples around the country titles ‘Wandana’ for Rupavahini. |
