China Central Television (CCTV) News Channel and China Radio International (CRI) Sri Lanka FM were launched in Colombo recently.
CCTV English news channel telecast on UHF 29 and CRI Sri Lanka is aired on 102FM.
Based on the close strong relationship established between Sri Lanka and China and with the increased arrivals for leisure and business to Sri Lanka from around the world including China, CCTV will give an opportunity to focus, Sri Lanka to the Chinese travellers.
CCTV is planning to provide Programmes in the four star and five star hotels around the country, which facilitate the visitors from China to view CCTV in Sri Lanka.
Nihal Perera, the president of China Sri Lanka Friendship Association and the Chairman Sparklink Group has requested the cultural section of the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka to provide that facility to the four and five star category hotels.
Nihal is also a member of the Board of Management of Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority. ‘Since the CCTV programme has been introduced in Sri Lanka, I requested that the CCTV programme be made accessible to hotel rooms. Presently the hotel guests have access to the programmes of BBC, CNN, NHK, KBS, AL Jazeera, and other channels; however CCTV programs are not available in the hotels’ said Mr. Perera.
