Entries for the 2010 edition of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) Brand Excellence Awards will be accepted from July 8 onwards, according to a statement from the organisation. In addition, while 2010's award categories and criteria would remain the same as that of last year's; new features 2010 would include a workshop following the participants' briefing, an entry form that requires a greater explanation of the market in which brands operate, and a post awards publication which would highlight the success stories of the participants.
According to the Project Chairman for Brand Excellence 2010, Ceylinco Life's Upul Adikari, who commented in length about the need for greater details in the entry form; this would allow "all participants a common ground irrespective of the size and provide additional information for judges in assessing brand performance".
He also noted that criteria used to evaluate brands could additionally benefit any brand planning process, saying: "By evaluating a brand against this process, any brand manager will be able to understand where his/her brand stands and which areas to improve".
Further, according SLIM President Rohan Somawansa, 2009's Brand Excellence awards was a "major success in terms of participation, revenue and publicity", adding "justice was done for those brands who were brave enough to show case their success to the nation".
SLIM’s statement also noted; "Dr. Uditha Liyanage, Director PIM (Postgraduate institute of Management), has been the mentor and the advisor to the committee since year 2007 and would continue this year too. Renowned marketer Kishu Gomes, MD/ CEO of Chevron Lubricants Lanka PLC will be the head of the judging panel this year, with his team comprising of eminent personalities representing different marketing and business disciplines". |
