Director of Synergy Mohamed Adamaly addressing the gathering

An official launch and open day was held at the Kandyan Arts Residency on Saturday, July 3 in the presence of over 100 marketing enthusiasts, teachers, students, parents and key business leaders from Kandy.

Mr Nadeeja Weeraratne, Managing Director of Kandy Bake House spoke on the importance of "customer insights" and "habits" when operating in the baking industry and on how marketing can effectively create value for such businesses. He was firm in his view that professional marketing talent needed to be developed to benefit businesses of the hill capital for future business growth.

Introducing CIM's core offering, Mr. Brian Selvanayagam, management committee member of CIM Sri Lanka Region noted that a marketing qualification adds an extra perspective to students pursuing a corporate career.

Marketing is not just about selling or positioning brands, but it's also on how products can be delivered in a cost-effective manner to the end-user. "In today's competitive world, students even with a University degree should also do CIM which will add value to their profile and help them land that dream job", Mr. Selvanayagam said.

In the past, the absence of quality tuition providers outside Colombo compelled students to add a time consuming and hefty travel budget to fuel their passion for professional learning. He added that CIM Sri Lanka, through the Synergy School of Marketing's Kandy branch, now have facilities to conduct the full CIM programme including the Introductory Certificate in Marketing for O/L students saving time and the hassle of the regular commute to Colombo".

Mr. Mohomad Adamaly, Director of the Synergy School of Marketing emphasised on the quality of knowledge delivery of Synergy's diverse panel of lecturers. The existing lecture panel, who also deliver content at other Synergy centres, will conduct the Kandy programme assuring students of the same levels of learning in their own familiar surroundings, Mr. Adamaly said. Speaking at the event, Mr Ravana Wijeratne, Managing Director of Sinhaputhra Finance Kandy noted that marketing in organizations need to be culturally sensitive in product development, communications and promotions, and quoted their own learning of recent market development initiatives.

The weekend classes will comprise classroom learning, workshops and business insights, supported by the Institute's Online Learning Portal which will deliver high quality subject content to the student's desktop.

The Kandy Centre has been in operation since 2005 where lectures commenced at Hillwood College. The achievements of its alumni include high world rankings and local prizes which have only strengthened the resolve of the panel to commit themselves more towards developing professional marketing talent.

The "Synergy" brand is synonymous with high quality marketing education in Sri Lanka having conducted the CIM programme for over 10 years in Colombo, Maldives and the United Kingdom.
