The 12th edition of Sri Lankan's National Best Quality Software Awards, slated for October 1, will feature "E-Logistics and Supply Chain Management" and "E-Inclusion and E-Community" as new categories for 2010. In addition, new awards for this year will also include "Best Products”, which highlights different technologies such as Open Source; and “Young Entrepreneur of the Year”.
Meanwhile, the competition, which is open to individuals, groups and organisations, offers applicants the choice of entering any of 17 categories. In 2009, there were entries in 14 categories as well as 70 tertiary student projects in competition. The overall Gold award in 2009 was earned by Scienter Technologies, while Lahiru Priyadarshana (iDisplay); Kaushalya Amarasinghe, Akila Peiris, Muditha Thelisinghe and Geeth Warnakulasuriya (Fixed WiMAX); and Amani Soysa (ChordATune); earned Gold, Silver and Bronze, respectively, in the Tertiary Projects category.
