Today, on July 19, the World Spice Food Festival event travels from Green Path to the Cinnamon Lakeside. The Hotel is a buzz with preparations to convert the Terrace by the pool of this 5 star hotel into a venue for a Hawker Street style festival of food.
The award winning Head Chef of Long Feng, Qiu Zhi Qiang is known to friends of the restaurant as Jason. Renowned for his flair for star quality Singaporean style cuisine, an art he began mastering from the youthful age of 16, Jason now brings you street food amidst beautiful surroundings. Singaporean food is reflective of the country’s culturally diverse ethnic make up. Its greatest influence arrives from China, with hints of Indonesian, Indian, Thai, Middle Eastern and even English cuisine resulting from the founding of the city by the British in the 1800s.
The in-house Chef will be joined by Chef Chong Teckhin Gabriel Aloysius who has been specially flown in from Singapore. Food will be designed and served in convenient portions that can be eaten while browsing and even shared with company. This way guests get the chance to savour everything from the Laksa Lemak, Hainanese Chicken Rice, Beef Rendang and the Satays, to the famous Long Feng Hot Butter Cuttlefish! More substantial compositions such as the Singapore Chilli Crab with Steamed Rice and Bread, Roast Duck with Chicken Rice, Lamb in Black Pepper Sauce and the Vegetable Fried Rice with Spicy Bean Curd are also on this extensive menu.
What will be even more fun will be the great deals on offer. The food will be priced from as low as Rs. 250 to Rs. 680 per portion.
Adding to the Singaporean flavour, will be Chef Gabriel’s wife Rita Tan, who has on offer and sale a display of Peranakan accessories including belts, buckles, and hair adornments, some of which she will make as you watch. Her display will include kebayas and batik sarongs in silk. Rita will demonstrate the delicate art of tying the sarongs and of fixing ladies hair in the traditional style.
The Street Feast will be open from 7.00pm to 11.00pm from the 19 to 25 July. |
