Sri Lanka’s prime and most looked forward to Sing – along festival of Golden Oldies ‘Down Memory Lane’ will come alive on Sunday August 8, 2010 at the Hotel Ranmal (Air Conditioned) Banquet Hall Gorakana Moratuwa at 6.30 pm.
Organised by Moratuwa Arts Forum (MAF), this year’s show of “DML”, as the concert has come to be known will comprise as usual evergreens standard oldies including Cowboy hits, American Plantation and Dixieland songs endeared to one and all from generation to generation. In order to please everybody “MAF have also included songs from the 80’s & 90’s era as well, explained the two Joint Project Chair Persons, Lankika Perera of Golden Chimes fame and Priya Peiris the Cock-A-Doodle Do Man, conceptualist of “DML”.
Lakith Peiris (CEO Lanka Hospitals LTD.) and Mrs. Peiris will grace the occasion as the Chief Guests and the Sing-along will be sponsored by Bank of Ceylon, Bankers to the Nation.
Super Pink N Purple led by the former Vice President of MAF Lincoln de Silva will provide the musical backing for the Sing Along while a galaxy of singing Stars of MAF will give the lead to community singing. This half an hour sing-along festival will feature old hits such as ‘Old Folks at Home’, Kathleen, ‘Galway Bay’, ‘Red River Valley’, ‘Somewhere My Love’, along with hits from the 60’s onwards like, ‘Send Me The Pillow’, ‘Oh Carol’, ‘Blue Berry Hill’, Ohio, ‘Release Me’, ‘Rivers of Babylon’ and many more. As usual the free song book will be given to every ticket holder at the gate.
As a value addition there will be a raffle draw with lavish gifts given away. Also included this year are prizes for the best Singing Couple, Best Dressed Vintage Couple etc. Food and beverage stalls will be a plenty at the show.
