Northumbria University, based in Newcastle UK maintains a rep utation as one of Britain's best modern universities and Chartered Institute of Management Accounting (CIMA) and being a popular professional qualification in Sri Lanka they launched an innovative degree pathway for CIMA qualified students at the British High Commission, Colombo. The pathway ensures that CIMA qualified students can obtain both professional as well as academic qualification through CIMA study pathway and this has been a long time need for CIMA students.

The launch event at the British High Commission was held amidst a distinguished gathering and the Deputy British High Commissioner, Mr. Mark Gooding formally launched the programme in the presence of Neil Slater, Head of International Office, Northumbria University ,Bradley Emerson, CIMA Regional Director, South Asia & Middle East and Mr. W A Wijewardena, President, BMS.
Speaking at the launch event, Mr. Mark Gooding, British Deputy High Commissioner said, "the degree pathway is an innovative approach to increase access for Sri Lankan students to a British Degree.
This programme will further strengthen the education partnerships between Sri Lanka and UK." The Deputy British High Commissioner further commended the efforts of Northumbria, CIMA and BMS local university partner in setting up this degree programme to provide the opportunity for Sri Lankan students to gain internationally recognised British qualifications.
Mr. Bradley Emerson said, Northumbria is a modern generation university and CIMA a next generation qualification which makes the perfect combination to develop the best degree pathway ever introduced in Sri Lanka.
Mr. Wijewardena, former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank and President, BMS stated that the launch of the CIMA degree pathway is another milestone in the future education in Sri Lanka. |
