August is turning out to be a busy month for Sri Lankan Volleyball, with the national men’s beach volleyball team flying to China last Thursday and the Dialog President’s Gold Cup divisional level championship kicking off last week.
The beach volleyball team is travelling to compete in the AVC Asian Beach Volleyball Championships which will be worked off from August 13 to 19. The members in the touring group are Mahesh Perera and Wasantha Ratnapala from the Navy and Pubudu Ekanayake and Asanka Kumara from the Air Force. Their coach, Prasanna Kumara, and their manager, Lieutenant Commander M. Alahakoon, will accompany the team to Liupanshui, China.
Meanwhile in the Dialog President’s Gold Cup, following the Divisional tournament there will be a District Level competition which will begin on September 4 and a National level tournament which will begin on October 13. The Gold Cup will see 6357 take to the air in ball spiking action. |
