Royal and Ladies come on top

2nd T500 Sprint Regatta Championship

The second annual T500 Sprint Regatta Championship concluded at the Beira Lake waters adjoining the Colombo Rowing Club saw Royal and Ladies College come on top as the overall champions.
Royal having played second fiddle to traditional rivals S. Thomas’ in the first championship last year took sweet revenge when they pipped their rivals with a time difference of just one second.

Ladies College in the meantime succeeded in retaining their champion tag which they won at the inaugural meet held last year when they pushed Musaeus College to the second slot.

The invitation open championship where six teams participated saw Air Force dominate to emerge champions. The T500 Sprint Regatta Championship which is the first ever of its kind to be held was organized by S. Thomas’ Mt Lavinia for the second successive year.

The championship also saw 13 schools taking part with seven in the boys’ category and six in the girls along with the six invitation team where over 120 Oarsman and Oarswomen where in action.

Single Sculls – Boys – Winner – S. Thomas’ ‘A’. Runner up – Royal ‘A’. Girls – Winner – Musaeus ‘B’. Runner up – Bishops ‘B’.

Double Sculls – Boys – Winner – Royal ‘A’. Runner up – S. Thomas’ ‘A’. Girls – Winner - Musaeus ‘B’. Runner up – Ladies ‘A’. Invitation Clubs – Winner – Air Force. Runner up – University of Colombo.
Coxed Fours – Boys – Winner – Royal ‘A’. Runner up – S. Thomas’ ‘B’. Girls – Winner – Ladies ‘B’. Runner up – Ladies ‘A’. Invitation Clubs – Winner – Air Force. Runner up – University of Colombo.
