Seminar on Tax, Customs and Exchange Control Law

The Alumni Association of the Faculty of Law has organized a seminar on some areas of Tax, Customs and Exchange Control Law, on September 21 in Colombo.

The topics include Cross Border Case Flows and Exchange Control (P. M. Nagahawatte, Chairman - NDB Bank and former Deputy Governor - Central Bank of Sri Lanka); Overview of the Customs Ordinance, Import Duties, Valuation Procedure and Investigations ( AA M Illyas, Attorney-at-Law); Overview of the Tax System in Sri Lanka, Tax Litigation Procedures and Ideas for Reform (Dr. Shivaji Felix, Attorney-at-Law); and Tax Planning ( Suresh Perera, Attorney-at-Law /Principal, KPMG Ford Rhodes & Thornton & Co).

The panel discussion would be led by Shibly Azeez, Attorney at Law, President of the Bar Association with other panelists which include Ranjith Fernando, Attorney at Law, Chairman of the United Motors Group; P.D. Premaratne, Senior Commissioner Inland Revenue Department /Secretary to the Board of Review; and P.L.S.K. Perera, Deputy Controller of Exchange.
