Dankotuwa organizes quality week focusing on employee participation

Dankotuwa Porcelain, under the theme ‘Productivity & Quality through continual improvement’, launched several employee focused activities to create an interest in, involvement in, and to further educate employees and their families on quality and productivity aspects, the company said this week.
Sri Lanka’s National Quality Week is from October 11 – 17 and it is usually the week during which the World Standards day falls. Dankotuwa said it has been in the practice of organizing activities every year to coincide with the National Quality Week.

This year the programme saw the launch of the programme by raising the quality flag on Monday where the Chairman (Sunil Wijesinha) addressed the entire workforce of 1,000 employees and urged them to be even more passionate about quality since it is the very high quality and service standards of the company that enabled the product to survive during the global recession when many international giants in the industry got into serious difficulty as a result of the drop in demand. “To further promote employee involvement the quality flag was raised by the most senior factory worker,” the statement said.

The competition for employees included a poster competition, a slogan competition, an essay competition, poem and nisadas competition, a cartoon competition, all on the theme of the Quality Week. The poster, slogan and cartoon entries were judged by the popular cartoonist Winnie Hettigoda.
