Story on illegal vehicle assembly yard, Not President’s man

No vehicles were removed after police raided an illicit vehicle assembly yard in Kurunegala last week, SSP Vaz Gunawardena said yesterday.

He was commenting on last week’s the Sunday Times report headlined ‘Wheeler–dealing vehicle yard busted after several years’.Our report said Prabath Kumara, the co-coordinating officer to the President in the Kurunegala District is alleged to have stormed the local police station armed with a pistol and forcibly removed a Prado jeep after threatening the police officers on duty”.

Mr. Kumara is not the Kurunegala district co-ordinating officer to the President as alleged in the report. He has informed the Sunday Times that he was not present when the Police conducted the raid.
The error is regretted.
