Director Oliver Stone’s movie ‘Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps’ is now being screened at the Liberty cinema, Colombo.
Starring Shia Labeouf, Michael Douglas, Josh Brolin, Charlie Sheen, Susan Sarandon, Frank Langella and Carey Mulligan, the 20th Century Fox movie is produced by Michael Douglas, Eric Kopeloff, Oliver Stone and Edward R. Pressman.
Set in New York City, the film takes place 23 years after the original and revolves around the 2008 financial crisis. The film’s plot mainly centers on the reformed Gekko acting as more of an antihero rather than a villain and follows his attempts to help Wall Street before its soon-to-be stock market crash as well as trying to repair his relationship with his daughter Winnie with the help of Jacob, Winnie’s fiance. In return, Gekko helps Jacob get revenge on the man he blames for his mentor’s death.
Emerging from a lengthy prison stint, Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas) finds himself on the outside of a world he once dominated. Looking to repair his damaged relationship with his daughter, Gekko forms an alliance with her fiancé Jacob (Shia LaBouf), and Jacob begins to see him as a father figure. But Jacob learns the hard way that Gekko-still a master manipulator and player-is after something very different from redemption. |
