It was a sell-out concert when leading Gospel singer, composer, and song writer Don Moen performed in Colombo on November 3, as part of his four nation tour.
The concert opened with the Sri Lankan choir of over 125 voices from over 40 churches from many denominations, accompanied by an all Sri Lankan Christian band from multiple churches. The choir was trained by Mary Anne David.
Prior to the concert Don, along with his team conducted a workshop for worship teams at the People's Church in Colombo on November 1.
The concert was jointly organised and produced and promoted by Voice International from Dubai and Chraft (Christian Arts Foundation) in Sri Lanka ably supported by many willing volunteers.
A peek at Prageeth’s preliminaries
Prageeth Manohansa is one of Sri Lanka’s foremost young contemporary sculptors. ‘Preliminaries’ is an exhibition of the sketches he makes before starting work on his sculptures, and they reveal an unpredictable quality of Prageeth’s and one less exposed.

Many collectors have requested his drawings for their collections when purchasing a sculpture. This was the inspiration behind ‘Preliminaries’. All the sketches are those of his previous works, most of which belong to private collections. The exhibition will also feature a small selection of sculpture by the artist.
Prageeth’s work is with collectors in Sri Lanka, Australia, France, Taiwan, Singapore, India and Norway.
Saskia Fernando Gallery has represented Prageeth exclusively since its inception in 2009 and continues to work with the artist on local and international projects.

Best Run Home in Gampaha District
The Peter Weerasekera Children's Home won the First Prize as the Best Run Home in the Gampaha District at the recently concluded celebrations in connection with World Children's Day.
Commissioner of Probation and Childcare, Mr. Abeygunawardena who was the Chief Guest on the occasion presented the Trophy to the Peter Weerasekera Children's Home.

Lecture by Justice Weeramantry
'Tread lightly on the earth: Religion, the environment and the human future' - a lecture by Justice C.G. Weeramantry, former Vice-President of the International Court of Justice that was to be held on Thursday, November 11 will now be held on Thursday, November 18 at 6 p.m. at the auditorium of the Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Science (SLAAS) No 120/10, Vidya Mawatha, off Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo 7. The lecture is being held under the auspices of the Wildlife and Nature Protection Society of Sri Lanka.
The lecture is open to the public free of charge.

Anlene holds Ashti Shakti
Anlene, has urged men and women in Sri Lanka and across Asia to unite in a pledge to make healthier choices in the fight against osteoporosis.
Sri Lanka contributed to this through Anlene Ashti Shakti, a two-day event held at the Galle Face Green. As part of its support for World Osteoporosis Day 2010, Anlene™ aimed to motivate people to take the first steps that will contribute towards a long-term commitment to bone health.
Over the two days an estimated 13,500 people attended the Anlene Ashti Shakthi event. Participants were taken through an interactive journey of bone health in which they got to participate in games designed to test their bone strength.
Ladies’ gets new archives building
In commemoration of the centenary of the Old Girls' Association of Ladies' College, Colombo 7, Deshamanya Mrs. Siva Obeyesekera, a distinguished old girl and past President of the OGA, declared open the new archives building of Ladies' College on October 30.
The Principal of Ladies' College Mrs. Nirmali Wickremesinghe, Vice Principal Mrs. Eesha Speldewinde, School Chaplain Fr. Sarvananthan, Manager of the School Dr. Deepthi Attygalle and the OGA President Mrs. Shiralee Hallock together with many old girls and staff were present at the opening ceremony.
