Sri Lanka Cricket has launched a drive to find sponsors for the eleven top division teams in the Tier ‘A’ Club Cricket tournament for the 2010-11 season.
SLC Interim Committee secretary told the Sunday Times “At present the Clubs are going through a trying time with the escalated expenses so we are trying to cushion their burden by finding sponsors for them for the coming season.

“So far we are talking to 5-6 potential sponsors whom we think will fit into the system and be with the clubs. In return we will give them exposure during the semi-finals and the finals which will be played December 16 to 18. We are hoping to give ball by ball radio commentaries and TV coverage from the semi-final stage onwards”.
Out of the eleven clubs in the fray two clubs – SSC and NCC already have their own sponsors. To this Ranatunga said “We are seeking ways with those sponsors as how we could add value to their sponsorship through this scheme.
“So far with the sponsors of SSC and NCC we have seven on the card and we hope we could find the balance four by next week as the tournament is scheduled to start in the following week”.
The tournament will be on from 1 to 18 December.
The eleven teams in the fray are—Tamil Union C and AC, Chilaw Marians, Colombo Cricket Club, Nondescripts Cricket Club, Badureliya Cricket Club, Lankan CC, Sinhalese Sports Club, Colts Cricket Club, Bloomfield C and Athletic Club, Ragama Cricket Club and Saracens Sports Club. -MSA |
