Sri Lanka lose all three games

Sri Lankan Ruggerites disappointed the home crowd at the Carlton International Rugby tournament conducted at the Sugathadasa Stadium for the 2nd consecutive year. Sri Lanka started off well in the morning giving a good run for the tough South Africans. They went down fighting 33-19.

At lemons South African Vipers led 19-5. Sri Lankan tries were scored by Anuruddha Wilwara who had a grand game. In the second Half Wilwara added with another try and along with a try from Srinath Sooriyabandara. South Africans scored 4 goals and 1 try.

In the second outing the national outfit were well beaten by the New Zealand Legends. Without a single national player in the Kiwi National side they out smarted the Lankans by 6 Goals and 2 Tries. At lemons Kiwis were leading 21-5 in the end they ran riot to win the game 52-5.

In the Last game Sri Lankans had some hope in the second half after being led by China 19-0. The Lankans came back strongly to score thrice but the China outfit edged the locals out by 26-19 points. Tries were scored by Visvamithra Jayasinghe, Sajith Saranga and Saliya Handapangoda.

It was surprising to see that Mohamed Sheriff did not get a full game and was seen in the bench most of the time. Visvamithra Jayasinghe and Anuruddha Wilwara were outstanding on day one.
Sri Lanka will meet Kazakhstan today in the Bowl/Shield segment.
