Gateway Colleges Colombo, Kandy and Negombo had much to celebrate with several students achieving outstanding academic results during the last academic year.
All three schools held their Awards Days recently in the distinguished presence of Her Excellency Kathy Klugman, the High Commissioner of Australia, Professor Savithri Kumar, Research Professor of Institute of Fundamental Studies, and Dr. Felix Stravens, the Managing Director of NCC Education UK as the Chief Guests in Colombo, Kandy and Negombo respectively.

There were thirteen Gateway students who achieved 7 A Stars or above at the June 2010 Edexcel IGCSE Examination. This included three students who obtained 11 A Stars each. Thilina Panduwawala of Gateway College Colombo and Apsara Tennakoon of Gateway College Kandy topped the list with 11 A Stars and an A each.
Twenty three students received 3 A grades or more at the Advanced Subsidiary (AS) level of which Nishan Srishankar of Gateway College, Colombo, who received the best IGCSE/OL result in Sri Lanka last year, repeated his success by achieving 5 A Grades.
Eighteen students received 3 As or more at A/L (A2).Ramesh Weerakoon (Four A*s), Anjali Rajadurai (5As) and Dulanjani Soundararajan (2A*s and 2As) received Edexcel Trophies for receiving the best A/L results in each school.
Gateway Graduate School, in partnership with NCC Education UK, offers a choice of two Diplomas. These Diplomas (International Diploma in Computer Studies - IDCS and International Diploma in Business - IDB) done over two years, is equivalent to the first year of a British Degree. The second year (leading to the Advanced Diploma) and the final year (leading to a Degree by the University of Wales, (UK) can be followed at the Gateway Graduate School.

Therefore, taking this route a student can obtain an internationally recognised British Degree in Sri Lanka, at a fraction of the cost of studying in UK. Students also have the option of transferring to Universities in UK, USA or Australia following the completion of the Diploma. The International Foundation Programme is available at the Gateway Graduate School for students who wish to join our Degree pathway after Sri Lankan or London GCE O/Ls.
Having completed the Foundation Programme, students are able to join the first year of the Degree. The programme, in addition to raising students' English level will also provide a firm grounding in Business and Computing along with other important skills. Students taking all these options have access to a wide range of sports and co-curricular activities. Our newly established Career Counselling and Guidance Unit offers extensive support in securing University placements and academic scholarships.
