Alethea International School shone at the Cambridge International O/L examination in May 2010. Lahiru Somarathna and Natasha Samarasingha of Alethea International School carried away their awards at the recent Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards ceremony. Lahiru Somarathna of Alethea International School was awarded the second best in the island across nine subjects taken at the Cambridge O/L examination held in May 2010. This student has attained 'A Stars' for 8 subjects out of 9. (An 'A Star' is awarded only to those who score above 90 marks out of 100).

Natasha Samarasingha who sat the Local O/L examination at Alethea International School in year 2009 was encouraged by her teachers to study for the Cambridge English examination while pending Local O/L results. "This brilliant student studied for the Cambridge O/L English examination in just six months, and achieved the highest score in the island for Cambridge English" noted Mrs. Kumari Perera, Director Alethea International School. "These students have not only excelled in their academic achievements, but also shone at extra-curricular activities".
Lahiru Somarathna was awarded the 3rd place in the All-Island Chess Tournament hosted by the Golden Square International Chess Association in year 2008. He held the title as the Vice-Captain of the Debating Team of Alethea International School. Lahiru is also an admirable compere who won the 4th place in the island at the Compering Competition hosted by Mahanama College, Colombo. Lahiru participated in the Inter-School Drama Competition organized by Cambridge International Examinations in association with Trinity College London. "Alethea International School provides an all-round education to their students", noted Lahiru Somarathna.
Natasha Samarasingha is an impressive writer who has won many prestigious awards for Creative Writing, English Language and Literature. She was awarded the 1st place for English language and Literature in 2009 by Alethea International School. Furthermore, Natasha was awarded the 1st place at the Creative Writing Contest in 2007. She has also participated for the Commonwealth Essay Competitions. Natasha was awarded the title 'Best Academic' in year 2009.

"There were only 18 students who sat the Cambridge O/L examination in May 2010, out of whom 2 were award winners.
