Amidst new row, UNPers meet today

The United National Party’s annual sessions take place at Siri Kotha, its headquarters in Kotte, today.
The only item on the agenda is the formal adoption of a new constitution formulated by a reforms committee and later knocked into shape by a team of legal experts.

However, there was a row yesterday with factions backing Sajith Premadasa, alleging that a new provision has been added to the draft constitution. That is to empower the leader not only to appoint the General Secretary but also the Treasurer.

Mr. Premadasa's supporters are expected to march in procession to Siri Kotha today.
